In the middle of the barren land,

Wearing long skirts,
Holding two buckets,
Going uphill,
What are they doing?

Fetching, fetching water,
They have to toil hard, to survive,
After all, they live in Iraq.

Look at those kids,
What has happened to them?
They are roaming in the market,
What are they doing there?

Buying, buying guns,
They have to learn to defend, to fight the war,
After all, they live in Iraq.

Look at the girl,
Walking up towards the cliff,
What is she doing?

Suicide, Suicide,
Tormented and raped, what else she can,
After all, she lives in Iraq.
